Brighton beat rivals Crystal Palace after an early Solly Marsh strike

Sam Skedge

The Seagull's beat fierce rivals Crystal palace 1-0, after Solly March got his seventh goal of the season.

After an attacking start for the Eagles with early chances for Odsonne Edouard and Michael Olise, Brighton scored on the counterattack.

The 28-year-old fighting for a place in the England squad for the Euro 2024 Qualifiers slots past the young Palace keeper after a beautiful through ball from Mitoma.

Midfielder Doucouré was lucky to keep on the pitch after a silly challenge on Caicedo while on a yellow card following frustration in the derby.

Visitors hoped to keep their streak against the home team but took a hit as their main and backup goalkeepers were injured. Joe Whitworth made his premier debut and was the youngest keeper to play in the league since 2005. He made some exceptionally good saves but was unfortunate to not get a result.

Brighton have beaten their bitter rivals for the first time in four years, whereas Viera's team hasn’t had a win in 2023.

This moves Brighton closer for them to play in Europe next season. However, it moves the London team closer to fighting for survival in the Premier League and creates pressure on Patrick Vieira.
